SANKOFA FREEDOM RETREAT
A fully embodied 3-region, 10-night journey to Ghana
August 15-25, 2024
Hosted by sisters Shani and Phakiso Collins
After traveling within West Africa since 2009 with students, family, and many amazing artists, we are so excited to launch the Africa Embodied Sankofa Freedom Retreat 2024. This 10-day multi-sensory retreat will transcend the conventional travel experience. It isn't just a trip, it's an invitation and intimate immersion into the heart and soul of Ghanaian culture. We'll first stay within the enchanting Aburi Mountains, then travel to Kumasi, Cape Coast, and wrap our experience out in the heart of Accra, heading to its infamous annual Chale Wote Street Art Festival. Deliciously and meticulously curated from years of personal connections and cherished experiences; we are taking you to places we’ve been to over many years, meeting people we now call family, friends, and Auntie.
At the heart of the Sankofa Freedom Retreat lies a commitment to community and Pan Africanism, inclusion, supporting Ghanaian and Black business, PLAY, healing/wellness, exploration, and personal renewal/growth. It's a transformative journey designed to ignite and support your own liberation and self-discovery. If you're looking to connect in a deeper, more relatable way than the typical tourist stops, participate in daily life, share home-cooked meals, engage in spirited truth talk on African politics, art, and history with some luxe and turn up along the way, then this trip is for you. We're offering you an authentic and trustworthy experience and invite you to explore a culture and country that just may become an intrinsic part of your own story.
